WHAT TO NOTE AS A PROFESSIONAL FILM DIRECTOR

 The most common yet constructive aspect of film directing is Performance directing. Artist performance on film set are monitored and controlled by a performance director with good understanding of  cinematic Vision

Most performance directors especially newbies and hobbies to film directing will stay having actors getting right dialogue lines, fluent expression and then block set for performance, this is quite wonderful and appreciated for hobby performance directors but unwelcome for a cinematic Performance Director

PERFORMANCE DIRECTING

Presenting scripted Characters will require alot from a Performance director who works with the vision in view, while Script analysis are crucial steps to noted down Characters and attribute to be performed, a performance director is obligated to build up Characters note for key roles or as many as possible

Befor audition, having Characters note, background note, personality, Qualities and purpose of each character will effectively enhance communicating role play to each cast. Character notes serve as a guide to both the actors and Performance Director.

Having best choice of cast for roles, perfect set blocking for performance,actors good in dialogue with fluency in expression should not set performance director to comfort.

 After all said and done, performance director works on artist delivery at  three levels during live capturing for better cinematic performance

DIRECTING GESTURE

Gesturing adds a lot of information in an actor performance, Using body parts especially Hands and head to express an idea validate the actions. Most actors are fluent in expression and great memory of lines delivery but poor in gesture performance. A performance director should developed ability to guide actors not just in line and dialogue fluency but also gesture delivery in bringing out role play

FACIAL EXPRESSION

Dialogue delivery without facial expressions is contradictory to cinematic performance. Making motion or positioning of eyes, Nose, lips, mouth in relation to what is said or what is heard adds meaning to role play. Performance directors that builds artist delivery with great gesturing and facial expressions definitely will obtain best of results from Actors

VOCAL QUALITY

Voice tone, flexibility, good pacing, clarity during actors performance in relation to role play. Voice and tone that matches actions and expression create reality of Character play than mere acting. Performance Director who envision cinematic performance from actors guide and instructs actors during performance on gesture delivery, facial expressions and vocal Qualities in order to bring Characters to live
